It’s Déjà vu All Over Again
The main stream media’s reaction to the Lev Parnas interviews and late breaking allegations have been over the top and have made them our first choice for Dumbass of the Week. The trial starts, in earnest, this Tuesday and I keep saying to myself, “I’ve seen this movie before”.
Lev Parnas, the soviet born Ukrainian businessman has been thrust into the center of the impeachment saga and has been able to perfectly fill in all of the supposed gaps in Donald Trump’s story.
Lev Parnas, the witness du jour, is the media’s newest Michael Cohen or Michael Avenatti. All kidding aside, he is under indictment and seems to be facing a mountain of legal trouble for, amongst other things, lying, just like Cohen, Avenatti and so many others before him (you can’t make this up). I so much want to believe Anderson Cooper is searching for the truth and has been moved by the direct, hard hitting questioning of Rachel Maddow. All the while, screaming at the television set obvious follow up questions that could point holes in the Parnas tale of duplicity, treachery and 2020 wrangling.
And, here we go again! The clichés are endless, but clichés are all one needs to see through the latest attack on President Trump. It’s the same play book that was used and failed to take down Justice Kavanaugh during his confirmation hearing: Late breaking news, after the case had been made and the next phase was to start. It’s exactly what was done with Michael Cohen, the media and the Democrats, who are often one in the same, have no case to make and want the world to rely on the words of an untrustworthy source who will say anything to stay out of prison. Donald Trump has denied knowing Parnas but pictures of Trump with Parnas are offered as evidence to the contrary. Pictures of Trump with Parnas, at picture taking events where someone PAYS to meet the candidate or president…so not really convincing to anyone with a brain. Never mind the perfectly fitted story that CNN; MSNBC and the DNC could not have written better or more clearly. According to Parnas, Trump was aware of everything and A.G. Barr was on the team! Well I, for one, remain skeptical and believe that A.G. Barr understands the law well enough to not commit a crime, to say the least. I’m just saying that some of the names that get thrown around so carelessly, make me wonder if our favorite media culprits are driven by ulterior motives and do not really care about the truth but want to have Trump removed as President for their own reasons as it sure as heck is not the good of the country.
I have begun to view the entire Trump presidency as being analogous to an Indiana Jones movie. Donald Trump, like Indiana Jones, is faced with one hurdle after another and seems to come out unscathed and untouched after each event. The media and the DNC, who always seem to be on the same team, are like the Nazis in those movies who can’t seem to thwart the effort of one man.
Let’s count the scandals of the last 4 years that have faced this administration and let’s review how our DNC compatriots and their media allies have reacted to each event.
Actually, let’s not and just say we did, none of us need such a review. However, let’s acknowledge that it’s always the same hyperbole that kicks off the storm. It always starts with a strong, unimpeachable (no pun intended) witness like a Christina Blaise Ford or a Michael Avenatti or a Michael Cohen, whose words we are supposed to accept without question. People who have ZERO PROOF to back up their stories. People whose allegations seem to tie in all of the loose ends and seem to provide all of the proper motivation so that believing whatever it is that they need us to believe, is easy.
People who belong in prison for lying.
Yet, we are supposed to believe that if it’s good enough for CNN, that it should be good enough for us. We are also never to question the uncanny timing of such ‘perfect’ evidence. It’s just good old-fashioned reporting; kind of like the time that CNN found itself outside of Roger Stone’s house, on the morning he was arrested. Good old-fashioned reporting, they had been paying close attention to the facts and concluded that his arrest was imminent…so, they sent a camera crew to wait outside his house and were prepared for the FBI’s pre-dawn raid. Or, they were leaked vital information that took the guess work out of making such a decision. You make the call.
As for this week’s impeachment trial, I’m as curious as anyone as to what will happen. There are clearly two paths for the Senate to ponder:
(1) Hear the evidence presented by both sides and come to a quick resolution as to whether or not there is enough evidence to proceed and dismiss the case before it gets started and call it the worst abuse of Congressional power in the history of the Republic;
(2) Bring in all the witnesses that both the Democrats and the Republicans want to testify. Despite what you’ve heard from Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff and Schumer this is more risky for Democrats because the witnesses that they want the most, will be protected by Executive Privilege, which will take time to adjudicate and will probably fail. Then, there’s the Republican list of witnesses which will include the supposed whistleblower, Hunter Biden, Joe Biden and Mr. Schiff for Brains himself and his staff. Not to mention the protracted amount time that this path would add to the trial which would also keep Bernie Sanders, Liz Warren, Amy Klobuchar and Michael Bennet off of the campaign trail. So, don’t believe everything that you hear. Especially, from these people.
