Schumer the Horrible
Chuck Schumer wins the vaulted Dumbass of the Week honor for overtly threatening two Supreme Court Justices. Yes, you read that correctly. Chuck Schumer, the miserable Senator from the state of New York, actually used threatening and menacing language directed at both Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett Kavanaugh in order to affect the outcome of a case in which they were hearing oral arguments. I am not an attorney, but that sounds awfully illegal to me?
Last week the Supreme Court was hearing a case regarding the constitutionality of Louisiana’s abortion law that requires an abortion provider have admitting privileges to hospitals within a 30 mile radius. The question for the Court to consider was the Constitutionality of requiring admitting privileges? Schumer was addressing the crowd outside of the Court at the time of the oral arguments and said, “I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions”. For starters, no decisions had been made and naming the Justices, whose vote you wished to affect, is a threat, plain and simple. Further, in this day and age of hyperbolic rhetoric and hysterical anger aimed at all things political, we need to demand more from our elected officials. Say what you will about President Trump, he has never threatened anybody nor insinuated that they must do what he says. He has only ever voiced opposition to positions and actions that people have taken. However, to the Left and to their comrades in the media, disagreeing with them is considered a threat.
The next day Mr. Schumer made a non-apology, apology by suggesting that he was talking about the Republicans and right-wing opposition to Roe vs. Wade. He blamed his Brooklyn heritage for using tough language. He even became sanctimonious when he said that he believed in women’s reproductive rights. Okay, but a woman’s right to choose was not under consideration by the Court. The Louisiana law did not challenge Roe vs. Wade at all, it merely focused on a doctor’s admitting privileges at area hospitals. But Schumer is a blow hard moron who is incapable of apologizing and is the Democratic leader of the Senate so he gets protection from the media. The same news organizations who down played the story and dropped it within a day or two, would be demanding the ouster of any Republican who did something remotely similar. Yes, we believe that most of the media is a part of the Democrat Party. By most, we mean: CNN; the New York Times; the Washington Post; MSNBC; NBC; ABC; CBS; the Los Angeles Times and just about every other news organization out there. These were the same people who tried to compare Trump questioning the impartiality of Justices Sotomayor and Ginsburg for anti-Trump statements that they have actually made to the language that Schumer used. During the 2016 campaign, Ginsburg said that if Donald Trump were elected President she would consider moving to New Zealand and that she could not imagine what this country would be like if he were elected. Sotomayor questioned the Supreme Court coming to the rescue of the administration for over ruling lower courts which had slapped nation-wide injunctions on administration initiatives 55 times in the last 3 years. For a comparison, during the 16 years of GW Bush and Obama, the same thing happened about half as many times. So about half as many instances of judicial activism over 16 years vs. twice as many in just 3 years. Maybe the administration should stop trying to work on issues so that it can please the lower courts?
A quick note to both Justice Ginsburg and Justice Sotomayor: the appearance of impartiality is sacrosanct in our judicial system, hence Supreme Court Justices do NOT delve into politics, NOR question the High Court’s interceding, at the administration’s behest, when some partisan district court hack over steps and wants to thwart the administration. As one of nine, on the Supreme Court, Justice Sotomayor has the opportunity to rule and to opine on these cases. If the lower courts make poor rulings, then over ruling them is the proper thing to do. That’s the job! If the lower court is making rulings that exceed their authority, then any condemnation should be directed at the lower court hack and not your associates on the Supreme Court.
As for the Miserable Chuck Schumer, you are no better than some lower court hack who is so overtly political in his actions. Much worse, you are a dangerous fool who could have incited violence with your stupidity and angry words. As for an apology, if you are not sorry then don’t attempt one by being such an idiot. You do deserve some level of punishment from the Senate, and if the Republican Party had the nerve, they would have you censured or possibly impeached. Speaking as a New Yorker, who’s State you represent, you are an embarrassment who has no idea of how stupid he sounds. I would enjoy watching the Senate properly call you out for your acts of aggression; hypocrisy and non-congenial behavior which have all lasted for decades but have drastically escalated during the Trump years. You and your ilk are the angry partisans who refuse to work with the other side. You and your ilk are swamp denizens who have not been able to accept the results of the previous election. You and your ilk are the grafters who cannot be trusted to represent the people and who only ever acted in your own interest. To you, I have only one constant thought and that is simply TERM LIMITS!! At any rate, you’re at the point where you have dismissed the importance of an independent judiciary and openly threaten Supreme Court Justices so that they might acquiesce to your wishes… it’s really time to go.
